What's new in Version 2015.01 and 2015.01a

  • Version: 
    • Version 2015.01a addressed some technical issues, but is not a required update for users. Users may opt to install this minor version. It is available in two formats, one for use with CaseWare Working Papers 2015 (the current version) and one for use with CaseWare Working Papers 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. 
    • Firms using Version 2015.01 may continue to use this version as it will remain current until the next major version is released. This release was available in two formats, one for use with CaseWare Working Papers 2014 and one for use with CaseWare Working Papers 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.
    • The CPA Canada Public Practice Manual (“CPA-PPM‛) release dated May 2015 did not include any revisions affecting the Templates.
    • Versions 2015.01 and 2015.01a include CGA Canada Public Practice Manual (“CGA-PPM‛) revisions up to and including the November 2014 CGA-PPM release.
  • Revisions:

      • Financial statements:
        • Added new CPA Handbook terminology “joint arrangements‛ in accounting policies note (user selectable - “joint ventures‛ also remains available to user)
        • References to CICA Handbook are changed to CPA Handbook (This only affects the viewable information appearing with the notes (not the printed financial statements)
      • File Profile (0.0P):
        • Added new settings for CGA or CPA affiliate and for relevant ethics rules, to accommodate firms as they transition from CGA to CPA. As these changes affect all engagement letters and independence letters, all client files must include the revised File profile, the revised engagement letter, and (if applicable) the revised independence letter for this new feature to function correctly. Users are reminded to follow these steps in each existing client file:
          • Open File Profile: Use the “Update to Current Version‛ button to merge the new revisions with the existing File Profile (When prompted: “Would you like to keep entered data for input cells and paragraphs?‛ - answer “YES‛.)
          • Review and edit all options in the File Profile (Only the new options will require attention if you chose to “keep entered data‛ as recommended above.)
          • Repeat 1 and 2 in the engagement letter
          • If applicable, repeat 1 and 2 in the independence letter
        • Updated web link to CICA document
        • Corrected links to D J McNeill website and e-mail
        • Documented the current template version date and number
      • Engagement letters - Changed links to File Profile to pick up relevant references to CGA or CPA, applicable affiliate, and the appropriate ethics rules
    • All audit and review templates: 
      • Independence letters - Changed links to File Profile to pick up relevant references to CGA or CPA, applicable affiliate, and the appropriate ethics rules; other wording changes
      • Revised checklists per November 2014 CGA-PPM
    • Compilation template - no additional changes
    • Getting started.docx and help.html - Corrected web links to www.djmcneill.com
